The Story Behind Roll Initiative
Roll Initiative has been a dream in the making for quite some time, but it wasn’t until the past couple of years that we truly brought it to life. Some of you may remember our first attempt on Kickstarter—yeah, we were ambitious. But instead of rushing it out, we took a step back, fine-tuned the gameplay, improved the quality, and reworked our strategy to ensure we could get this game into your hands the way it was meant to be played. Your support and patience mean the world to us, and we’re beyond excited to finally share something we’re truly proud of.

The idea for Roll Initiative was born from a group of friends who had two things in common: a love for medieval fantasy and the joy of staying in on weekends with a few drinks and a good game. But, as life goes on, we all grew up, moved away, and scattered across different states in pursuit of our own adventures. When we were able to reunite, it was like no time had passed—our nights were filled with laughter, ridiculous competitiveness, and the kind of memories that stick with you forever.

But here’s the thing—getting everyone on board with the same game was always a challenge. Some of us wanted strategy and depth, others just wanted to roll some dice and have fun. Then there were the rule connoisseurs, the loophole abusers, and, of course, the ones who just wanted to gang up on whoever was winning. So, we thought—why not create a game that caters to everyone? A game that welcomes both the ultra-competitive and the casual players, where alliances can shift in an instant and where every round is a new story waiting to unfold.

And that’s exactly what Roll Initiative became—a game designed to be quick, easy, and endlessly fun. Too many games today come with a rulebook the size of a novel, but we wanted to break that mold. This game is designed for zero prep, minimal setup, and instant fun. No long-winded explanations, no complex mechanics—just grab some friends, roll some dice, and let the chaos unfold.
